Creekview boys hosted West Forsyth in what would be a battle of two well-matched sides. West Forsyth had the momentum in the beginning, however as time progressed the momentum began to shift to Creekview. It was a complete team effort to with several players having the matches of their lives. Freshman keeper Cherry Cooper proved he was up to the task of stopping shots a varsity level. He made several quality saves that kept Creekview in the match. Creekview was pressed several times, however Dylan Stevens and Kendrick Jeans were up to the task by shutting down West’s attack. Connor McGhee’s shot was just wide of its mark in the first half.
The second half continued at a frenzy pace with Carlos Sanchez, Ben Soncco, Ben Schirner, and Carlos Carrillo, and Mason Babcock taking control the midfield. Eventually, Carlos Sanchez played a ball over the top to Luis Perez. Luis outran West’s captain to the ball and and beat the goalie to score with 1:28 seconds left in the second half.
